Seen in Bruges historical city during a short Saturday city break only four hours altogether (September 2017).

Traveling on business to Brussels I decided to come a bit earlier to sightsee a bit. Usually it is only fly in fly out and never goes beyond the European capital. A couple of years ago I spent around a week in Antwerp, so my choice this time was Bruges.

Bruges was thriving in the early medieval times as one of the most important European trade centers. Later, from the XVI-XVII century it lost its position and splendor. Unlike many great European cities, it was never consumed by a bigger fire nor destroyed in the war struggles. Carefully refurbished, today it is a tourist attraction famous for its extensive historical medieval city. Bruges is located in Western Flanders, in Belgium within one hour distance by train from Brussels.
