Colours of spring. The mating plumage

Walking around the Wilanow Park, I saw two pairs of different species of ducks. It was clearly visible which duck in the pair was male and which was female. In the spring, male ducks don their breeding plumage to impress their mates, and in the winter, after the breeding season, they don their resting plumage (basic), which is much less flashy and helps protect them from predators. The plumage of females is modest in both seasons. In the photos you can see close-ups on the plumage of both males.
