Still of Berlin: 3XN Cube

The worst period of the pandemic left me untouched. But Covid caught me twice early last year despite three doses of vaccination. I had side effects until the end of May and was pretty sick. However, last year was the first year after the pandemic when I had a chance from June to September to hit the road again and take a camera in my hand. My first trip was between pleasure and work.

The last batch of Berlin photos I rediscovered yesterday were taken around the new Berlin Central Station as we walked to the Brandenburg Gate on its west side. Above one of those photos showing, in contrast to the photos I’ve been posting in recent weeks, the modern Berlin architecture. The building on the left hand side is 3XN Cube Berlin.

3XN Cube Berlin

Completed in February 2020, this cube-shaped building serves as an office space and is located at Washingtonplatz in the Europa City area, near Berlin’s main train station. The building is often described as a “smart building” for its use of advanced technology to optimize energy efficiency, indoor climate, and user comfort.

3XN Cube Berlin has an unique façade, which consists of a double-skin glass structure, providing not only an eye-catching appearance but also functional benefits like enhanced insulation and natural light penetration. The façade’s geometric pattern adds a dynamic visual element while also contributing to the building’s energy management strategy.

The architect behind Cube Berlin is 3XN, a Danish architectural firm known for its innovative and sustainable design solutions. 3XN was founded in 1986 in Aarhus, Denmark
