Seen at Berliner Dom. The pulpit

As I was walking around the Berliner Dom making photos, some with a high zoom allowing me to see details at close, my impression was like ‘Roman, Imperial, Perfect’. On the photo, yet another masterpiece from Berlin Cathedral – the massive pulpit made of oak.

The pulpit in the Berliner Dom was built in the neo-Baroque style and is adorned with sculptures and decorative elements. The pulpit was destroyed during World War II and was later reconstructed in the 1980s. It was designed by Julius Carl Raschdorff, the architect who oversaw the construction of the cathedral. The sculptural decoration was created by Ludwig Brunow, who also worked on the cathedral’s exterior sculptures.

Seen at Berliner Dom. A woman mourning

Reviewing photos made last year in Berlin I finally got to the Berliner Dom. It will take me sometime to select photos for a coverage on this magnificent building. Right now my pick of the day: a woman mourning beneath one of the ceremonial sarcophagi you can admire in the Dome.
